Visual Merchandising Workshop

Visual Merchandising Workshop for local producers with Steps to Success, Store Visit and Action Plans with Sarah Davies.

What did the Visual Merchandising Workshop involve?

Expert merchandiser brings “Steps to Success” to the region inspiring local producers with more than just pretty windows.

Through the Agri Food Tourism Development (AFTD) Program, Sarah Davies, better known as ‘The Merchandiser’ visited the region sharing her skills and knowledge with local businesses with two days of intensive workshops and one on one, hands-on, in store sessions.

Sarah has worked with a variety of retailers throughout her 25-year career as a visual merchandiser sharing her knowledge and understanding with businesses to create inviting retail spaces.

Local businesses across the region were invited to participate in Sarah’s ‘Steps to Success’ workshop and engage in one-on-one store visits to better understand and develop their own visual merchandising concepts.

The intimate, two-hour workshop detailed current trends, creative displays and impactful product presentation alongside effective category management and memorable service areas.

Participants explored concepts focused on developing their retail space into a destination and providing customers with a complete sensory experience before inviting Sarah into their outlets for a one-on-one hands-on store visit.

Working across seven unique businesses, Sarah developed a customised action plan identifying key areas that required attention in order to maximise available spaces and provided strategies to achieve retail success from floor layouts and window displays to product presentation and store ambience.

Local participants eagerly took on board the feedback and suggestions and promptly began to implement their personalised action plans, reworking store layouts to shine a light on their quality, local products and connecting with their customers in a new and creative way.

The Visual Merchandising Workshop – ‘Steps to Success’ was facilitated by Regional Development Australia Murraylands & Riverland through the AFTD Program and supported by Destination Riverland, the Murray River, Lakes & Coorong Tourism Alliance and regional businesses.

The Agri Food Tourism Development Program is funded by the Australian Government under the Murray-Darling Basin Economic Development Program.
