The Calperum Connect: Pathways to Employment program launch
The Calperum Connect: Pathways to Employment program was launched at Calperum Station on 7th August 2018.
The launch consisted of a Ranger led 5km walk along the creeks at Calperum Station, with landscape features and indigenous artefacts discussed along the way. As part of the Aboriginal Ranger program, and it was great see the Riverland Rangers sharing their knowledge of the land with program participants.
Calperum Connect: Pathways To Employment, is designed to provide Aboriginal people with employability skills and training, as well as an opportunity connect with land, culture and support networks at Calperum Station. They will participate in individual employment pathways planning, skills development and real workplace activities whilst being mentored by Calperum Aboriginal Rangers. The program is modelled with a ‘learning and doing’ approach with training sessions, case management and structured mentoring sessions throughout.
Here at Regional Development Australia, we are excited to see a program like this in the Riverland, and wish participants a successful journey on their Pathway to Employment.
