Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland (RDAMR) has been recognised on the national stage, winning the Investing in People Award at the 2025 Regional Development Australia Awards in Canberra on 5 November.

Presented by The Hon Kristy McBain MP, Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories, the award celebrates organisations that place people at the centre of regional growth and ensure local voices shape decision-making.

RDAMR was recognised for its suite of Resilience and Sustainability initiatives, including Individualised Care for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Mental Health Flood Support and the Regional Leadership Development Program. Together, these programs have supported community recovery from drought, the River Murray flood and broader social challenges.

Chair Jodie Hawkes said the award highlights the region’s resilience and the strength of collaboration, noting that more than 760 people have taken part in wellbeing workshops and sessions, while over 260 locals have strengthened their leadership skills through the RLDP.

Chief Executive Julie Bates said the impact is both personal and far-reaching, creating “a ripple effect of courage and capability across the region,” and acknowledged the leadership of Project Manager Mandy Tennant in bringing these initiatives to life.
