Minister Scriven launches 2025 Regional Leadership Development Program in Murray Bridge

NewsMedia Release

The next generation of regional changemakers will be welcomed tonight with the official launch of the 2025 Regional Leadership Development Program (RLDP) at the Bridgeport Hotel in Murray Bridge.

The Hon Clare Scriven MLC, Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development, will open the program this evening, welcoming 27 emerging leaders from across the Murraylands and Riverland into the transformative initiative.

“The Regional Leadership Development Program has demonstrated that it can reach a large and diverse group of emerging leaders from right across regional South Australia and provide them with valuable skills relevant for their work in regional industries, businesses, and in community activities,” said Minister Scriven.

The RLDP is delivered by Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland (RDAMR) in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA), with support from Aurora Meliora and LeadersHP.

In January 2024, the South Australian Government announced a further $2 million investment to extend the program, recognising its significant impact across 72 regional towns and more than 1,300 participants since 2022, far exceeding the original target of 420.

The program has been particularly successful in attracting a diverse group of emerging leaders, including women, who make up more than 68% of participants, First Nations leaders, young professionals, and people from a wide range of industries and lived experiences. The 2025 cohort continues that tradition, representing sectors such as agriculture, education, health, local government, tourism, small business, and community services.

RDAMR Program Manager Mandy Tennant said the RLDP continues to play a pivotal role in building inclusive, future-ready leadership across the region.

“By investing in people, we’re investing in the resilience and sustainability of our communities,” she said. “These 27 emerging leaders are stepping up to shape a better future—not just for their workplaces, but for the region as a whole.”

Over the coming months, participants will take part in immersive workshops and on-country sessions designed to deepen self-awareness, foster courageous leadership, and build strong connections across sectors.

Delivered locally, the program removes common barriers such as long travel times and time away from work or family, ensuring the training is not only accessible, but directly relevant to the region’s unique challenges and opportunities.

The RLDP continues to build a statewide network of changemakers committed to thriving, connected, and inclusive regional communities.
