The From Here We Thrive project, delivers a coordinated, region-wide program that strengthens drought resilience across the Murraylands and Riverland by integrating evidence-building, wellbeing support, business capability development and diversification planning.

About the Project…
The Project is a collaborative initiative designed to strengthen the resilience, capability and future preparedness of businesses and communities across the Murraylands and Riverland.
The project will commence with in-depth insight interviews and a regional skills and capability analysis to better understand the challenges, opportunities and emerging needs facing local businesses and industries in an increasingly variable climate.
The insights gathered will inform a series of de-identified case studies showcasing practical examples of resilience, innovation and adaptation from across the region. The project will also identify current and future skills needs, explore opportunities for business diversification and growth, and support the development of practical actions that help businesses prepare for future challenges.
Together, these activities will create a stronger evidence base for future investment, foster collaboration across industries and communities, and build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for the Murraylands and Riverland to adapt, innovate and thrive.
Drought Resilience and Regional Futures Survey
Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland (RDAMR) is undertaking this regional research to build a deeper, evidence-based understanding of how drought, climate variability, and broader economic and social pressures are affecting people, businesses, and communities across the region.
While quantitative data provides important indicators, it does not fully capture the lived experience of primary producers, small business operators, workers, young people, and emerging leaders navigating ongoing change.
This research is designed to elevate community voices, identify common themes, and better understand the real-world challenges and adaptation strategies already emerging within the region.
RDAMR aims to strengthen regional coordination, align investment with community need, and support long-term resilience, sustainability, and opportunity across the Murraylands and Riverland.
