Christine Webster entered the 2024 RLDP with a clear goal: to develop more contacts across the Murraylands and gain deeper insight into the region. Reflecting on her experience, Christine found the program instrumental in broadening her network and enhancing her understanding of the community and its dynamics.
About the Christine’s Journey
Participating in the RLDP had a profound impact on both Christine’s professional aspirations and personal outlook. The program has inspired her to consider a longer-term future in the region, contingent on finding economic opportunities and family-friendly roles that align with her values and lifestyle.
Since commencing the RLDP, Christine has taken proactive steps in her professional journey. She has confidentially applied for roles that would enable her to contribute more significantly to the community, particularly in youth development and employment training. She is currently preparing for a job interview for a part-time position in the employment and training sector, demonstrating her commitment to leveraging her skills for the betterment of the region.
Christine is actively seeking leadership opportunities that align with her family’s needs and personal aspirations. Her objective is to secure roles that will allow her to contribute meaningfully to the region or organisations that value her expertise and experience.
Even after completing the RLDP, Christine remains dedicated to community projects. She continues to contribute pro bono to the Loveday Internment Camp project, despite its temporary pause by the Berri Barmera Council for the current financial year. This demonstrates her commitment to preserving regional history and contributing to meaningful initiatives.
While Christine expresses a strong interest in joining local committees and supporting community groups, her current focus is on securing stable employment and growing her client base. She continues to work part-time with the Murray Pioneer, covering the Riverland West region, but acknowledges that additional income is necessary.
Christine remains curious and optimistic about her professional future. Since mid-December, she has applied for multiple positions and is eager to see how new opportunities unfold. As she prepares for 3.5 weeks off from her role at the Murray Pioneer—where she will still contribute occasionally due to staff shortages—she looks forward to the possibilities that lie ahead.
Her journey through the RLDP has reinforced her commitment to leadership, regional contribution, and career growth. With her determination and passion for community engagement, Christine is poised to make a lasting impact in the Murraylands and Riverland region.
