5-Day Regional Leadership Development Program

The 5-Day Regional Leadership Development Program (RLDP) will be open to people who reside in the Murraylands and Riverland region and are ready to broaden their leadership skills. RLDP will focus on personal growth, self-awareness, communication, and relationship development.

How it worked

It was a rare opportunity for the Southern Mallee to have the RLDP delivered in the area. The region has a population of 2,012 and a land area of 5,702 square kilometres, which is predominantly rural, focusing on agriculture, sheep grazing, grain growing, and vegetable production. The closest major town was Murray Bridge, located 1 hour and 30 minutes away. Over 13% of residents had been born overseas (mainly from South Africa) to meet the workforce demands of the agricultural industry.

The structure of this program focused on the development of core adaptive capabilities that enabled participants to build productive teams, develop their people for the future, and cultivate innovation and inclusion. The RLDP fostered characteristics such as integrity, empathy, self-awareness, influence, courage, humility, respect, and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively—skills that benefited both their professional and personal growth in fostering inclusion and community building.

The RLDP emphasised personal growth, self-awareness, leading teams, building cultural awareness, communication, and relationship development. The word ‘leadership’ was not a position or a title; it was action and example. Upon completing the program, participants had enhanced their leadership capabilities, built confidence, strengthened their ability to inspire others, and made valuable connections that they carried into their future, both personally and professionally. These skills, experiences, and connections helped individuals identify the kind of leader they aspired to be while increasing their confidence and capability in leadership and their ability to drive meaningful change.

The program was delivered face-to-face, over 5 workshop days.

The program consisted of:
